Equipment Checklist For All 3 Triathlon Sports

Equipment Checklist For All 3 Triathlon Sports
By Seth Anderson

For athletes of all levels, from beginners to professionals, nothing beats the rush of beating your best personal time in a triathlon. The greatest thing about triathlon sports is that they are ideal not only for athletes who compete on a professional level but also for regular, athletic individuals looking for a challenge. If you have ever been interested in entering a triathlon, there is no better day than today to get signed up and to start preparing. With some good information about equipment, all you'll need to do is buy or tune up your equipment, find a triathlon in your area and begin your physical and mental preparation for one of the most rewarding athletic challenges out there.

As most athletes know, triathlons consist of three events: long distance swimming, bicycling, and running. This means that a contestant is going to need equipment for each different event. The quality of equipment will depend on the contestant and the amount of time he or she spends on sports of this nature. For everyday athletes, equipment from top of the line triathlon sports brands is not necessary. For these contestants, quality equipment from well known athletic brands will be more than adequate, although brand choice is completely up to each contestant.

In the swimming leg of the triathlon, a contestant will need a swimming suit or wetsuit, goggles and a swimming cap. Other options might include earplugs, noseplugs or other swimming accessories, based on preference. During the cycling portion of triathlon sports, a high quality distance bike and a helmet are the main pieces of equipment. Other equipment would include bike shoes and gloves, sunglasses and a water bottle. The running portion of the triathlon requires running shoes and socks and by this point, an energy gel or snack!

When you go to purchase equipment for the triathlon you plan on competing in, go ahead and find a triathlon sports equipment checklist. These can be found at any number of triathlon websites and can help you decide what equipment you would like to have for the big race. Once your equipment is in order, all that is left is to prepare yourself for race day.
