Giorgio Armani History

Giorgio Armani History
By Pinto Guerra

Fashion designer Giorgio Armani, known as Emperor of Milan, was born on July 11, 1934 in the city of Piacenza in northern Italy (south of Milan). The passion for fashion was not manifested early and the young Italian came to attend two years of medicine at the University of Milan before accepting the job of a window dresser at the renowned department store La Rinascente in Milan at age 20.

His younger sister, Rosanna Armani, who worked as a model, introduced him in the inner circle of the Italian fashion of the time and, thereafter, Giorgio curriculum gained content thanks to a work as Nino Cerruti assistant, for nine years. In 1970, he began his career as Free-Lancer in the fashion world, encouraged by his close friend Sergio Galeotti, designing and sewing for many brands.

In July 1975, his first collection was launched, with male and female clothes and his style soon became the symbol of elegance. In 1978 the brand launched GIORGIO ARMANI Le Collezioni, composed of feminine and masculine clothes for the American and Canadian market. It was the start of international expansion of the brand. Quickly, Giorgio Armani has become one of the most influential designers of the 80s, beginning with the inauguration of its first store in the city of GIORGIO ARMANI Milan.

During its history, Armani revolutionized the world of fashion with very stylish collections, modern, and over the years, many were the celebrities who joined the style and the clothing and accessories of the brand.

The designer is a real trend-setter, and a workaholic. He himself said: "Look for a job you like and you will never have to work in your life."

This is one more proof that success (in whatever area is) is only achieved (and maintained) through hard work, and throughout all these years the brand has never ceased to innovate and be at the forefront of world fashion trends.
